17 October 2012
Join us on 17th of October for a CoCo Seminar by Senior Lecturer at Macquire University Matt Bower titled “Research and development in online synchronous learning”.
This presentation examines what is fundamentally different about synchronous learning and teaching that is enacted online. It raises the question of how to evaluate and somewhat objectively compare different pedagogical approaches that are applied in media-rich online synchronous learning environments, and explains how quantitative multimodal discourse analysis can provide a potential solution.
Current trends in rich-media synchronous learning are outlined, based on research conducted as part of the OLT Blended Synchronous Learning project initiative. Emerging developments in the area synchronous online learning and teaching are discussed including the convergence of Augmented Reality, Virtual Worlds, Social Media and real-time 3D modelling.
This seminar will be available live online at http://webconf.ucc.usyd.edu.au/seminar-room
