You are invited to a public forum to discuss the impact of Local Schools, Local Decisions on ESL programs in NSW schools, where 130,000 students are currently learning English as an additional language. More than 1600 teachers, consultants and community information officers – all of whom have been specially trained – provide support for these migrant and refugee students and their classroom teachers. The shift of funding to individual schools may jeopardise these positions. This forum is for everyone interested in equity and the access of migrant and refugee students to quality education and support for English-language development. Teachers, parents, teacher education students, academics and community members are all welcome.
