The economics of education: perspectives
and methods

Professor Colm Harmon is head of the School of Economics at the University of Sydney. He received his BA and MA in economics from University College Dublin, and his PhD from Keele University. Professor Harmon's main research interests are in the economics of education, labour economics and applied economics policy. With colleagues, he has published papers in journals such as the American Economic Review, Economic Journal, Economica, Economics of Education Review, Economics Inquiry, European Economic Review, Fiscal Studies, Health Economics, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, and Labour Economics.

Professor Harmon has held visiting appointments at Princeton University, University of Chicago, University College, London and the University of Warwick. He is currently an associate editor of Economics of Education Review and a member of the editorial board of Effective Education. Professor Harmon was named a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor at Bonn in November 2000.
