Does higher education make you think?

VISITING THINKER SERIES

2 September 2014

The Sydney School of Education and Social Work invites you to a seminar with Professor Sir David Watson who explores the question: "Are we overlooking whether (and how) higher education works on its students?".

He argues that higher education is regarded as a noble and longstanding enterprise and yet, curiously, it has not been one that questions itself. In times of economic or political difficulty, the academic community has been more ready to analyse and campaign about what is being done to it than what it does to itself and to its most important members – its students.

Sir David Watson is Professor of Higher Education and Principal of Green Templeton College, University of Oxford. His book The Question of Conscience: Higher Education and Personal Responsibility was published recently.

The presentation will be followed by an audience Q and A.

Please join us for refreshments and canapés on arrival.
