WORKING WITH POLICY AND MEDIA TEXTS: DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO ANALYSIS

12 November 2015

Researchers working with publicly available documentary evidence such as policy and media texts use a variety of approaches to frame and conduct analysis. This workshop by Dr Nicole Mockler (pictured) will explore a number of possible approaches to working with policy and media texts, including framing analysis, Bacchi’s ‘What-is-the-Problem-Represented-to-Be?’ approach, and critical policy historiography. Participants will discuss the basic differences between these approaches, as well as the various uses and relative strengths and weaknesses of each.
