Qualitative and quantitative research methods

20 September 2016

This seminar will describe photovoice, a participatory methodology that combines photography with localised narratives and grassroots social activism. Images, rather than text, are used as primary data sources. The presentation will explain how photovoice can be used to position participants as partners, rather than subjects, within the research process. The benefits and challenges of the approach will be discussed. Because this workshop has an experiential component, students are asked to bring along one or two personal photographs that they regard as representing an aspect of their perceptions of university life.
