INSIDE THE ‘BLACK BOX’ OF ACADEMIC PUBLISHING (AKA ‘HOW DO I GET IN?’)

18 October 2017

Doctoral researchers know that a good publication record can contribute greatly to their prospects of permanent employment within the academy at the conclusion of their studies, but the ins and outs of academic publishing can seem very opaque to newcomers. This workshop aims to provide a window into the ‘black box’ of academic publishing, exploring and comparing the merits of different types of publications such as refereed conference papers, book chapters and journal articles, as well as the processes generally used by publishing houses and journal editors. Come along with your questions, queries and puzzles about when, how and with whom to have your work published.
