ZONTA Club Sydney East Inc Scholarship Open

This scholarship has been established to support one mature-age female student per year to complete a degree or undertake a research project. Preference will be given to candidates who are making a career change, or applying for support for a professional-experience internship, field-education placement, or research project with a strong social-improvement focus.

Applications are OPEN until 5pm on April 28, for scholarships that take effect in 2014.

Marion Macaulay Bequest Scholarships

Marion Macaulay was a graduate of the University of Sydney who spent many years in the teaching profession and was closely associated with women's and educational professional associations. She bequeathed her estate to the University of Sydney to be applied in the area of humanities. These scholarships are offered to coursework students currently enrolled in the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Education and Social Work who will be travelling overseas for the purpose of gaining credit towards their degrees, either in the form of approved exchange or an approved professional experience such as an internship or practicum. The value of the scholarship is $7500 regardless of the destination or duration of stay; recipients who already hold a scholarship of $5000 or more will receive $5000.

Helen Marchant-Pritchard Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships, which cover a period of one year only, were established to support research into topics that reflect Dr Helen Marchant's professional interests, including social work and social change; gender and social welfare; women, work and technology; immigration; and social policy. Applications are open to social-work graduates who are seeking to pursue research and whose professional backgrounds include social work and/or social policy. The value of each fellowship shall be determined by the Faculty Awards Selection Committee and may be used either to purchase materials, equipment or services, or to travel interstate or overseas to collect data.

Katharine Ogilvie Memorial Awards

These awards, which cover a period of one year only, were founded to support postgraduate research in social work or to provide a travel grant for overseas research. The award is open to postgraduate research students who are eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. Awards may vary but are expected to be either half- or full-doctoral support ($8500–17,000).

Ogilvie Palliative Care Bequest

This award, which covers a period of one year only, supports research into diversity and end-of-life issues for postgraduate coursework and research students in social work. The award is open to postgraduate coursework or research students enrolled within the Faculty of Education and Social Work who are graduates with either a social-work or related undergraduate degree and who have at least two years' full-time (or equivalent) work experience in the field of palliative care. The value of each fellowship shall be determined by the Faculty Award Selection Committee.
