The release of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics for Years 7 to 10 offers a unique opportunity to consider the challenges we face when implementing new approaches to the teaching and learning of mathematics in secondary classrooms. As the draft NSW syllabus, which incorporates the content descriptions and proficiencies from the Australian Curriculum, will be available for consultation at the time of this conference, changes to content will be considered as well as the implications for teaching and assessment.
