Certificate in Literacy Education

(For teachers outside the wider Sydney metropolitan region, attendance at the evening workshops is available by videoconference.)

This program is designed to support teachers K–10 in furthering their understanding of literacy pedagogy. Each workshop will blend theory with practice and will include a summary of relevant research across the five conference themes, as well as syllabus implementation advice. Participants will be provided with readings for each workshop and will be required to reflect on their practice throughout the course.

  • Planning and Teaching for Diverse Needs


Assessment & Accreditation
To receive the Certificate in Literacy Education, participants must attend and actively participate in the conference and all sessions listed above.

Successful participants have the option of having this program accredited as one unit of study towards the Faculty's Master of Education (MEd) program, or the shorter Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies levels. This involves submitting two additional assessment tasks, and carries an additional fee for marking and administration. If interested, please discuss this option further with the Academic Coordinator.

NSWIT Endorsement
This program is approved as Institute Registered Continuing Professional Development for maintenance of accreditation at Professional Competence. NSWIT Course Code C06007. Please provide your 6-digit Institute Number on your registration form if you want your participation recognised.
