Quality Literature for Quality Learning (K–10)

Friday 21 May 2010 | 9am–3.15pm

A range of contemporary children's and adolescents' literature will be used in this workshop to explore student engagement, deep understanding and deep learning and, consequently, enhanced learning outcomes. We will consider questions around quality literature, critical literacies and the role of the Arts in quality learning, and draw on recent concrete experiences in classrooms. The place of literature in the English K–10 National Curriculum will be explored. The workshop will be interactive and participants are asked to bring at least one example of something they define as 'quality literature' with them.
