Supporting Quality Teaching with Technology
Wednesdays 25 August, 1 & 8 September 2010 | 47pm
In these workshops, teachers will work together and with the instructor, to collaboratively develop teaching units grounded in their KLA. These will use Quality Teaching strategies and be supported by relevant ICTs. Developing resources supporting the use of the Years 9 and 10 NSW-DER laptops will be addressed specifically.
One of the most common problems with ICT-integration in teaching identified by teachers, is a lack of time to develop materials and resources, as well as existing resources not being appropriate for their teaching context. By working together in this course, teachers will have the time and support to:
- share professional knowledge and resources with teachers in, and outside of, their KLA
- develop skills to evaluate and critique ICT tools relevant to their teaching context
- critically analyse a variety of quality teaching methods and ICT integration strategies, and
- brainstorm solutions for ICT-related issues or barriers individuals may have experienced when teaching.
Participants are asked to bring a unit from their KLA area and any relevant resources. At the end of the program, the teaching units developed by the participants will be peer-reviewed by the group and feedback will be provided.
