Online and in-school programs

We now offer teachers professional development courses in the evenings off-campus and online. These courses are endorsed by the Board of Studies, Teaching & Educational Standards (BOSTES) (previously NSW Institute of Teachers (NSWIT)) as continuing professional development. Three courses have been developed for delivery in 2014:

The modules within each course are offered in blended mode – face-to-face classes at hub schools plus reading/online participation – and each is equivalent to half of a postgraduate unit of study.

Completion of Module 1 of any program is a prerequisite for enrolment in its corresponding Module 2.

Teachers who successfully complete both modules of a program may choose to have their work assessed for accreditation towards a higher postgraduate degree.

Cost and mentoring payment transfer

The usual cost of each module is $700 per person, including GST. Teachers who provide mentoring to students from the faculty who are undertaking professional experience as part of their undergraduate teacher-training degree can redirect their mentoring payment from the faculty towards the cost. An additional fee is charged when participants wish to take up this option of postgraduate credit transfer, to ensure price parity with faculty postgraduate coursework fees.

Individual schools – or communities of schools in the Sydney metropolitan region – that can guarantee a minimum of 20 participants in a blended-learning module qualify for a reduced rate of $385 per person. Further discounts may apply to schools offering to act as host schools.

Tailored in-school courses developed on request

The Office of Professional Learning can also deliver professional learning specifically tailored to your school's needs and delivered to your staff at your workplace.

Modules can be adapted to be delivered at staff development days and in other customised modes, and will qualify for NSWIT professional-development endorsement.
