Evidence-Based Pedagogies – Module 1

Delivery
2011 course has closed. 2012 details will be available in the new year. This course may run in either:

  • Blended mode: 10 hours face-to-face (in-school) classes + 10 hours online and/or reading and assessment activities
  • Online mode: 20 hours online and/or reading and assessment activities.

This module will examine:

  • the methodology of meta-analyses that has led to the proliferation of best-evidence and evidence-based pedagogies in education
  • specific evidence-based pedagogies that the evidence suggests have the most potential for effecting a change in learning outcomes. These include reciprocal teaching, feedback, Present-Apply-Review and co-operative learning.

Participants will be expected to apply their learning to their own classroom context and report on this in class discussions and in an assignment.
