Associate Professor Ian Smith

In common with several other members of the CEC committee, Ian became interested in education in China when he took part in a faculty-led study tour of China. Ian's group toured in 1982, under the leadership of Professor John Cleverley.

Ian has maintained his interest in education in China by becoming a member of the China Education Centre and has served for the past several years as newsletter editor. He retired from the University of Sydney in 2006 as an Associate Professor in Education, specialising in educational psychology and human development, and is a visiting professor at Burapha University, Thailand, where he supervises PhD students in an international human-resource development program.
