The CEC Language Day is designed for all teachers of Chinese in New South Wales. It will provide opportunities for learning about:

  • the latest developments in Chinese language curriculum and pedagogy

  • the Chinese Language Proficiency Test

  • teaching Chinese as a Community Language

  • networking to develop career opportunities

  • the latest materials in teaching Chinese.

A bookstall will offer the latest materials for teaching Chinese. Entertainment and cultural performances will be provided by a local group. Language Day is allows teachers of Chinese to interact with experts in many of the fields of Chinese language education.

The day will conclude with a panel discussion and question-and-answer session. Participants will be a mix of government and independent school teachers, private tutors, Saturday school teachers and pre-service teachers. Morning and afternoon teas will be included in registration. A certificate of attendance will be available on request for those participants registering before 12 April.

The Faculty of Education and Social work will be holding a symposium at the Intercontinental Hotel, Expo, Shanghai on October 21. The dean of the faculty, Professor Rob Tierney will speak about trends in social work and education in Australia and China and he an range of other guest speakers will discuss what is required to meet the needs of these professions in each country. The China Education Centre would like to extend an invitation to all its Shanghai-based friends to attend.
