AELE Research Network Symposium 2008

A National Curriculum in English: Perspectives, Principles, Possibilities

This symposium will provide a forum for discussion for English in Education academics; scholars and researchers in the field of English who are in faculties other than Education; teachers from the Government, Catholic, and Independent sectors; policy-makers and public servants working in the English curriculum field as well as their counterparts in the non-government sectors; and students.

Delivering the Opening Address will be The Hon John Della Bosca MLC, Minister for Education and Training, Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for the Central Coast, and Minister Assisting the Minister for Finance.

Mr Tony Mackay, Deputy Chair of the Australian Government’s recently formed National Curriculum Board, will deliver the opening keynote address. Mr Mackay will close the symposium by synthesising and commenting on the key issues to arise from the presentations and collegial discussions throughout the day.
