What are UoS Website modes?

Your Application to Activate (A2A) form will request information about the mode of your unit of study (uos) website. We need to know whether the uos is being offered fully online, with some compulsory online elements, or simply as an adjunct to face-to-face teaching.

The table below provides definitions for the different mode classifications. When you complete your A2A form for a uos website, you will be asked some questions about the purpose of your website and the form will nominate the mode for you.

Category of Unit of study website Description
A1 - informational The unit of study website provides information and resources only (e.g, unit of study outline, readings, links to other related websites)
A2 - supplemental A1+ the unit of study website provides activities requiring active student participation but these are not part of the assessment framework for the unit of study.
B1 - blended (assessed) A1+ The unit of study website provides activities requiring active student participation and these are assessed as part of the students' performance.
B2 - blended (replacement) A1+ The unit of study website provides activities requiring active student participation and these have replaced some of the face-to-face class time of students.
B3 - blended (replacement and assessment) A1 + The unit of study website provides activities requiring active student participation and these are assessed and have replaced some of the face-to-face class time of students.
C1 - fully flexible The unit of study website supports a unit of study which can be completed almost completely off campus (for example, the unit of study might require a residential weekend).

Please note that if you are managing a fully online uos website and this is the first time your Mode C uos has run, you will need a signature from your Head of Department. This signature is usually faxed or emailed to our Helpdesk. Please phone us on +61 2 9351 8728 to request a form. This is only required the first time a uos runs fully online.
