Inside your eLearning site

Most university eLearning sites are managed by the individual Unit of Study (UoS) coordinator. Some sites may have a number of lectures, tutors and administrative staff contributing to their ongoing maintenance. You should direct all queries about the site's content to the UoS coordinator first, unless advised otherwise.

All eLearning sites will contain a UoS outline that states what is required to complete the UoS, and a link to your coordinator's contact details. They also contain a link to Student Resources for online eLearning help and ICT help.

In addition they may also contain other learning tools:

  • Learning resources: e.g. Lecture notes (Word, PDF, PowerPoint), links to library readings and online learning resources in Lectopia, YouTube or on the web.
  • Communication tools: e.g. course discussion boards, chat rooms, blogs, wikis and journals.
  • Online Activities:quizzes, tests and surveys.
  • Online Assignments:Electronic assignment submission.

Example of an eLearning site

On the left hand side of each eLearning site will be a menu containing links to a number of different areas and tools within the site. Below is an example screenshot showing a menu with a few of the following options. It is set at the 'Content page' as an example of a page with links to learning resources.

Below is a screenshot of a example eLearning site layout. You will be able to see the menu on the left and the 'content' screen will contain either a URL link to your online UoS outline or a link to a Unit of Study document that will detail your course description and assessment.
