Clearing Cache/Temporary Internet Files and Cookies

To clear your Cache/ Temporary Internet Files and Cookies select your browser from the list below and follow the instructions.

PC browser settings

Internet Explorer 8

Start Internet Explorer 8, click “Tools” from the toolbar, and choose Internet Options.

You will need to restart Internet Explorer 8 to allow the changes to take effect. Close all Internet Explorer windows then restart Internet Explorer.

Click “Delete Browsing History…”.
Tick check boxes “Temporary Internet Files” and “Cookies” and then press Delete button.

Start Internet Explorer 7, click "Tools" from the toolbar, and choose "Delete Browsing History..."

Next to section "Temporary Internet Files", click the button "Delete files..."

Next to the section “Cookies”, click the button “Delete cookies…”

You will need to restart Internet Explorer 7 to allow the changes to take effect. Close all Internet Explorer windows then restart Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer 6

  1. From the drop down menu bar (File, Edit, Tools etc.), click Tools, then Internet Options
  2. This brings up a dialogue box with 6 tabs across the top (General, Security, Privacy, Content etc).
  3. Click General, then look for Temporary Internet Files
  4. Click Delete Files, then (if it appears) check off Delete all offline content; then click OK
  5. Click OK again and this should clear all cached pages
  6. Click Delete Cookies
  7. Click OK

Mozilla Firefox 3+

Select Time range to clear “Everything” and click on “Details”

Tick the boxes next to “Cache” and “Cookies”, and then click the “OK” button.

You will need to close all Firefox windows and restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

Apple / Mac browser settings

Firefox Version 3+

  1. Start Firefox
  2. Click on Firefox in the top Menu to open the drop-down menu
  3. Select Preferences. This will open a second window as pictured on the right.
  4. Click on the Privacy tab. Choose Custom settings for History will allow you to choose Keep until I close Firefox.
  5. Clicking on Show Cookies will bring up a window that will allow you to remove all session cookies.
  6. Restarting your browser will clear the cache and cookies automatically.

Internet Explorer 5.1 (Mac OS9)

  1. Open the browser
  2. Select menu item, Edit
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Expand Advanced category
  5. Select Cache
  6. Select Empty Now
  7. Click OK
  8. Back in Preferences window, select Receiving Files
  9. Highlight all cookies and press Delete

  1. Open the browser
  2. Click on Safari in the menu at the top of the screen
  3. Click on Empty Cache, as pictured in the Safari screenshot to the right

Clear Cookies in Safari

  1. Select Safari from the menu at the top of the screen
  2. Click on Preferences
  3. Select Security tab
  4. Select Show Cookies
  5. Select Delete Cookies
