Eportfolios at Sydney
In 2010, the University is rolling out an enterprise ePortfolio solution supported by Sydney eLearning and the Institute for Teaching and Learning. The purpose of the system is to support the growth in students’ professional understanding and develop an overview of their own learning through reflection.
The software chosen through Faculty/student consultation processes is Pebblepad, a web-based ePortfolio system that allows a user to build a portfolio of their knowledge, skills and abilities over time. This porfolio can be used to reflect on their experiences of learning, their goals and achievements for different purposes such as assessment, clinical or practical skill acquisition and personal or career development.
Currently, a trial is underway to explore the various discipline-specific uses of ePortfolios at The University of Sydney. This trial will also investigate the uses of ePortfolios in a variety of approaches to teaching.
Lecturers from a number of faculties and schools are in the process of exploring the potential uses of the ePortfolio system from both a staff and student perspective.
Groups currently trialling ePortfolios include staff and students from the faculties:
- Agriculture
- Arts
- Economics and Business
- Education and Social Work
- Health Sciences
- Veterinary Sciences
- The Conservatorium of Music
- Sydney School of Nursing
