Undergraduate Capabilities

The VSFS plays an important part in undergraduate studies from the third year onwards of the Aeronautical Engineering degree at the University of Sydney. Upon completion, the simulator could then be used more widely within the faculty in various aerospace units of study for demonstration or test purposes. Read more...

Research Capabilities

The entire VSFS project has been a research initiative of the Aeronautical Engineering Department within the School of Aeronautical, Mechanical and Mechatronics and Engineering at the University of Sydney. The overall physical redesign with a glass cockpit and software design based on real time simulation using an xPC Target and Simulink© structure was also a research project since 1999. Research projects are focused on making the simulator truly generic as well as harnessing it's potential in system control and design. Read more...

Industrial Capabilities

The VSFS is an exclusive project to the University of Sydney, a national first. There is a significant potential for industry to harness this project to procure future candidates for employment. Undergraduate and Postgraduate students undertaking projects on the VSFS are individuals whose main areas of interest are flight simulation and related fields such as guidance systems. Read more...
