How to apply
Full details on how to apply are here.
- Most local students who are school leavers should apply for admission through UAC - The Universities Admission Centre. Information is distributed to year 12 students in schools.
- The Flexible Entry Scheme allows students who are close to published Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) cut-offs to apply and be considered for Commonwealth supported places and gain entry based on assessment of Engineering ability, leadership skills and other related criteria. Full details on the Flexible Entry Scheme
- Special entry schemes exist, such as for Mature-age Entry Scheme for older applicants who do not have a competitive Year 12 result and have not attempted tertiary study.
- International students can obtain information on tuition fees and application procedures from the International Office.
Credit for previous study
We would not assess your individual case for granting of credits at the University of Sydney based on your results elsewhere until after you have successfully been admitted and enrolled. However, in general, we will give credit if the subjects you studied successfully have a close equivalent here in terms of content and outcomes. We would recommend that you view our detailed program and read the syllabus of each unit and that you make an initial assessment if the individual units you did elsewhere are equivalent to ones at Sydney.
Once you have enrolled, you should submit an application for credit as soon as possible after enrolment (or even bring it along at enrolment time – though it will not be assessed on the day). It will help your case if you provide as full a summary as possible which includes:
- The application form listing the individual units you did elsewhere with the equivalent unit at Sydney for which you are applying for credit.
- Copy of your transcript
- The subject outline or syllabus for each of these units in sufficient detail for us to assess whether or not the unit is equivalent.
