Bachelor of Engineering - Civil Engineering

  • Are you interested in your environment?
  • Would you like to see us make better use of the resources nature has provided?
  • Would you like to make a difference to the area where you live and work?

Perhaps you would be interested in being a Civil Engineer.

Civil Engineers touch almost every aspect of our lives. They plan, design, construct, maintain and recycle many of the structures you can see around you: from towering offices to heritage buildings; from roads and bridges to railways and tunnels; and from power stations and airports to dams and harbours. At the University of Sydney we want Civil Engineers to have a broad global outlook on the world in which we live and work, and the studies which you undertake reflect this attitude. When you study at the University of Sydney, you learn about all aspects of Civil Engineering before choosing the stream in which you wish to specialise.

Our Civil Engineering graduates are highly skilled professionals who combine technical, managerial, organisational, financial, environmental and problem solving skills.

Full Elective Choice

Enrolling in our "standard" BE (Civil Engineering) gives you full choice of all our elective subjects in later years - in specialisations of structural, environmental & geotechnical engineering and project management.

After a 2nd or 3rd year year you can easily change to one of our specialist streams in these fields.
