PhD student wins NSW Coastal Conference student research award

Congratulations to PhD student, Fahim Tonmoy, who has won the 2013 NSW Coastal Conference student research award.

Fahim's research, under the supervision of Associate Professor Abbas El-Zein, investigates new ways of mathematically combining the biophysical and socio-economic dimensions of risk associated with climate change.

In collaboration with Shoalhaven City Council, Fahim has applied this new method to assess the vulnerability of eight local beaches to sea level rise.

Fahim was presented with the award by Professor Bruce Thom, president of the Australian Coastal Society, during the NSW Coastal Conference held in Port Macquarie.
