About the centre

The Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering (CASE) within the School of Civil Engineering was established in 1988 to foster strong links between the University of Sydney and industry, strengthening industry support of research and increasing the University’s services to industry.

Using our Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory, our research expertise covers:

structural stability and thin-walled structures
composite structures
reinforced and concrete structures
prefabricated systems
modular construction
high-performance buildings
adaptive structural systems
experimental techniques
materials science
computational analysis.

Our research

Research and industry engagement

We have a long tradition of working with industry partners on research projects, the development of new products, and in transferring our research into design guidelines to enable the use of new technologies.

Research findings and reports

We're undertaking numerous structural engineering research projects supported by both the Australian Research Council (ARC) and industry.

Our services

Testing and consultancy

We offer a range of testing and consultancy services to our industry partners including structural testing, forensic and proof engineering, product development and customised structural design software.

CASE Laboratory

Our Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering (CASE) Laboratory is a home to a wide range of facilities and testing equipment to support research in structural engineering.
