Abstract

The presentation will go through a series of 4 studies investigating how to improve IT project performance. There are two common themes in the 4 separate studies. One is the focus on organizational level factors, including organizational form, control modes and governance mechanisms. The other is a common methodology through the comparison of the IT services and the construction industries.

The first study compares the organizational forms in the two industries. The second and the third studies focus on organizational control modes and governance mechanisms, respectively. The forth study explores how control modes and governance mechanisms interact and impact jointly on project performance.

Due to time limit, the focus of the presentation will be on Study 2 on organizational control modes.
