Abstract

This brief presentation (30mins) will look at the relationship between what The Board wants, in the way of a delivered strategy, and what actually is achievable. As pressure increases for organisations to deliver high rates of return, so the risks associated with the strategy delivery increase. The 'unknown' is the organisation's Project Delivery Capability.
By looking at a simple model one can see the relationship in three dimensions, and with further work one may eventually be able to calculate the costs of improving the project delivery capability, and the increased return by being able to succeed with higher-risk projects.
Currently many CEOs/Boards announce new initiatives and the share-price either does not move or declines - maybe the investors/shareholders know more about the organisation's ability to deliver than those who propose the strategy!
