When I first received this presentation title, I was excited by the prospect of researching its background and clarifying my thinking as to where engineering is going? This is a very general question requiring considerable thought and reference to the past to see where engineering is now and how it got there. But before I start on this, I need to define what I believe is "the discipline of engineering".
