Seminar - Rob Wheen - Some Ideas/Inventions I have played with

Wednesday, April 27, 2005, 1.10 - 1.50 pm
Civil Engineering Lecture Room 3

Abstract

Ideas and inventions arrive at quite unexpected times. Sometimes they appear as solutions to apparently intractable challenges or problems that have been studied at length. At other times they are fortuitous results of unlikely combinations of apparently unrelated pieces of information or knowledge. No invention, in my experience, arrives without there having been some previous trigger or observation. I believe it is possible to increase the chances of coming up with new ideas.

This seminar will present a number of such ideas and will attempt to trace their origins.
