Seminar - Bill O'Toole - Establishing the international Event Management Body of Knowledge (EMBOK)

Abstract
The event industry is worth billions of dollars, it influences all our lives. Currently the Commonwealth Games fill the media. However, there is no real description of the event management process. Over the last 5 years a group of international event managers have been meeting to construct an Event Management Body of Knowledge (EMBOK). This presentation will outline the model. Bill will illustrate the need for the model, how it relates to other management models - such as project management and how it can eventually be captured and developed by a software system.
