Abstract
Despite decades of research and practice, Information Systems projects, especially IT-driven change projects, still under perform. One of the main factors leading to project failures is lack of user participation in the project management processes. However, little empirical research has been done on the link between user participation and project performance. This proposed study starts with a thorough review of literature on user participation in relation to IT-driven change projects. Based on the review, a model on the effect of user participation on project performance is hypothesised. A methodology for the validation of the model using field data is then proposed. Implications for further research and practice are discussed.
