Abstract:
After 25 years of constant development Strand7 has become a global brand in FEA and competes with ANSYS and ABAQUS. With about 4000 commercial users and many academic ones it can be seen that the FEA code that grew out of a late 1970s teaching and research code in the Aero Eng Dept here at Sydney University has moved a long way in these years.

Strand7 has been used as part of the analysis porcess for many significant structures. The cost of this succes is to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson, "eternal vigilance'. This involves, research, validation, verification, training, software development and testing and many more activities.

This talk describes some of these processes and presents some of the recent functionality that has become part of the latest release.
