Abstract:
Soft soils exist in many locations on the Earth. In Hong Kong, most soft soils are found on the seabed. Soft soils are problematic for Civil Engineering projects. This talk will cover soft soil problems, the time-dependent stress-strain behavior of soft soils, methods for settlement calculations, and one-dimensional and three-dimensional elastic visco-plastic constitutive models.
