Our Mission
The Centre for Water, Wind and Waves is an autonomous centre within the School of Civil Engineering. The mission of the Center is to promote and support collaborative academic research and research sponsored by industrial partners in various fields of environmental resources. The Center offers also consultancy services for Industry, Government, and non-profit external partners.

Our Vision
The Center’s vision is to improve the understanding and knowledge transfer of qualitative and quantitative aspects related to environmental resources and aims at making its research outputs and outcomes beneficial to the national and international communities.

The Center's affiliates comprise young and experienced academic staff, researchers, students and technicians.

Facilities
The Center provides coordination for the activities in the Environmental Fluids Laboratory and supports constant update of equipment and experimental facilities to the most advanced technologies. The Fluids Laboratory has full capabilities to develop in-house new facilities thanks to fully-equipped workshops and highly-qualified technical personnel.

Consulting Services
The Centre provides specialised consultancy services to the profession and industry in various fields including:

  • Hydraulics and hydrology
  • Water quality assessment and remediation
  • River and Coastal Engineering
  • Energy production from wind turbines and ocean waves
  • Air quality and contaminant dispersion
  • Atmospheric circulation in urban environments
  • Urban air flow and interaction with buildings
  • Specialised analytical tools and modeling software


Software
The Center serves as a proxy to distribute the software developed by our Staff.
