Graduation Eligibility and Completion Letters

Graduation Eligibility

You do not need to apply to graduate. Your eligibility will automatically be assessed when the results for your final semester are available.
If you expect to complete the requirements of your degree program in Summer or Winter School you must advise the Faculty or you may not be included in the graduation ceremony.

Completion Letters

The Student Centre will send a completion letter to your Sydney Student portal.

Your Faculty completion letter will be sent to your University email account

If you require a letter to verify your completed qualifications which states the start and end dates of your study, you will need to take your Faculty completion letter to the Student Centre located on Level 3 of the Jane Foss Russell Building to request one. Download a "Request for Letter" form.

Graduating in absentia

If you do not wish to attend a ceremony you may have your degree conferred earlier, at a monthly meeting of the University Senate. For this to happen you must advise the Graduations Office in writing by:

fax: +61 2 8627 8281
post: Graduations Office
Level 3, Jane Foss Russell Bldg, G02
University of Sydney, NSW, 2006.

You must state that you wish to graduate in absentia and include your full name, student number and the address to which your testamur and academic transcripts are to be posted.
