Welcome New Students
Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at The University of Sydney.
We will get our first opportunity to meet most of you during the enrolment period.
Our Faculty has a very long history having commenced in 1883 and that has produced many distinguished graduates who have contributed significantly to the economic, industrial and infrastructure development of Sydney, New South Wales and Australia.
Our graduates are recognised world wide, and we were delighted in 2009 to have all our undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering and our new Postgraduate Master of Professional Engineering programs accredited by the professional body Engineers Australia.
The United States based Project Management Institute has also accredited our Master of Project Management degree program.
In research, we were delighted with the Australian Research Council (ARC) and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) successes (24 new grants commencing in 2010 with a value of over $10m) where we improved 15% on last year and continue to be Australia’s premier Research intensive Engineering Faculty.
We aim to be a Faculty for the future as we strive to prepare you as graduates and future leaders to address the major global technical challenges that our local, national and international communities face. We have a group of world class academics and researcher to support you on this journey.
We hope you enjoy your educational journey of Engineering and Information Technologies with us here at the University of Sydney and we are confident that this will prepare you for rewarding careers.
Professor Archie Johnston
Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.
