IT Helpdesk Support
For all IT requests, incidents or problems:
-
Call (02) 9351 6000 (for urgent matters); or
-
Staff can use the ICT Self Service Portal to log and review ICT help requests online; or
-
Email support@sydney.edu.au (lowest priority)
- use your university email account
- provide as much information as possible including, student name, SID, Exchange or Sydney Mail address, location, yellow PC Asset ID (if available); or
-
Students can receive help from ICT staff by visiting one of the Access Labs. A map of the Access Labs is available here;
In the school laboratories
- your first person to contact is the lab supervisor/officer;

Email, Calendaring and Room Booking
All University Staff receive the official University email account in the format name.surname@sydney.edu.au built on their UniKey.
If you are an external academic, or a visitor and you don't know if you have a UniKey, please do the following:
- Read About My UniKey
- To request a UniKey please email IT Operations Manager and include the full name, date of birth , phone, location in the school and any external email where you can be contacted. The UniKey and email account will be sent directly to you.
- If you forgot your UniKey please contact the ICT Helpdesk.
- To setup your Exchange account in your email client please follow the Exchange setup guides or call ICT helpdesk for support.
- When you're away from your desktop computer you can also access your exchange email and calendaring at MCS Webmail
Advantages of MCS Exchange account:
- access to the University Global Address List (GAL)
- access to school distribution lists including _EIE all staff, _EIE Academics, _EIE Visitors, etc
- access to Exchange calendaring system to organise meetings/appointments
- access to School resources/room booking system *J03 {room}, *J13 {room}
I want to keep my external email
If you're a visitor or an external lecturer and you'd prefer to receive the school communications to your external email address, but would like to be entered in the school distribution lists you can be added to the MCS Exchange server as and Exchange Contact.
Please fill in the form Staff Phonebool Person Update. You need a UniKey to access the form or ask a school staff to enter it for you.

Wireless Access
EIE Staff and Students can connect to the internet using personal laptops or mobile phones. Visit the Universities wireless access pages for detailed information on setting up a wireless connection at usyd and access points.Wireless access is available in the J03 and J13 Buildings. Best wi-fi connectivity is on levels 4, 5, and 6 (terrace area and close to 630).
To connect to the University wireless (UniSydney network):
- Enable wireless on your device.
- Select UniSydney from the list of available wireless networks.
- Click Connect or Join.
- When prompted for your credentials, enter the following:
username: your UniKey (eg abcd1234)
password: your UniKey password - If you receive a warning to intall/trust a security certificate, click Connect or Accept.
