Personal

Juan Carlos Ostos Giraldo, since graduation, has pursued to constantly update his knowledge in today’s changing technology environment. He received his first B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering and his first postgraduate degree in Technology Management from Los Andes University, Bogota, Colombia. He received his second postgraduate degree in Project Management from Javeriana University, Bogota, Colombia. He received his second B.Eng. degree in Computer Science from Manuela Beltran University, Bogota, Colombia in 2007. He received his third postgraduate degree in Business from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, in 2010. To keep updated he has participated in Energy Management training courses in Kitakyushu (Japan) and Cologne (Germany) from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), GIZ (German Society for Cooperation) and Calgary University (Alberta, Canada). In Australia he received his Certificates IV in Project Management and Australian Government from TAFE in 2010 and 2011 respectively. He has done complementary training in Digital Control Systems at UNSW (2009) and DC Power Supplies, PLC and SCADA (TAFE). Prior to commencing postgraduate studies at the University of Sydney, Juan Carlos Ostos Giraldo worked in Colombia and Germany (Solar Institute and Research Centre in Juelich). He is currently working toward the Master degree at the University of Sydney.

Research

His research interests include power electronics, dc-dc conversion, renewable energy sources for smart grid, motor drives, project and technology management.
