The CSIRO ICT Centre IT Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships

No longer offered from 2012. The CSIRO ICT Centre IT Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship aims to encourage high-performing students entering the first year of an undergraduate course in the School of Information Technologies.  The scholarship shall be open to all citizens or permanent residents of Australia who qualify in their final year of schooling to enrol in one of the degrees offered by the School of Information Technologies within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies.  Eligible programs include the Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology, Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology (Advanced), Bachelor of Information Technology. Students enrolling in the following combined degrees will also be eligible: BIT/BA, BIT/BCom, BIT/BSc, BIT/BMedSci and BIT/LLB. Awards will be made on the basis of academic merit, and full-time enrolment. No applications are required. The awards will only be available for students commencing in semester 1 of the academic year.  The student will also be given the opportunity to spend one week work experience at the ICT Centre under supervision of a staff member during the summer vacation.

Tata Consultancy Services Entrance Scholarship

The Tata Consultancy Services Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to a student who is from a disadvantaged background. The scholarship is open to Australian Citizens, or holders of Permanent Humanitarian Visas; who are currently enrolled at the University of Sydney as a Commonwealth-supported student in the Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology, Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology (Advanced) or the Bachelor of Information Technology and are in receipt of a means-tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Austudy, ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance, etc.), or can demonstrate low socio-economic status on the basis of a comprehensive financial assessment. School of IT Undergraduate Scholarship  $6000 1 up to 4

The School of Information Technologies Undergraduate Scholarship will be awarded to a student who is: an Australian citizen or permanent resident, has completed the 2011 HSC or equivalent, and is commencing candidature in one of the following degrees: Bachelor of Science and Technology (BCST); BCST (Advanced); Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT), and the following BIT combined degrees: BIT/Laws, BIT/Arts, BIT/Medical Science, BIT/Science and BIT/Commerce, in Semester 1 2012 as a full-time student.  Successful applicants are required to provide a personal statement, reference letters from at least 1 referee, and the solution to an IT problem set by the School. The Google Australia Prize for Excellence in Computer Science

To encourage high achieving students in the computer science stream in the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) to undertake honours studies.  The prize will be awarded annually to a third year student with the most outstanding performance in the computer science stream of the BIT who have achieved a distinction average over the first 3 years of full-time candidature in BIT, and is progressing to an honours year.  The prize cannot be shared.
