The CSIRO ICT Centre IT Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships

The CSIRO ICT Centre IT Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship aims to encourage high-performing students entering the first year of an undergraduate course in the School of Information Technologies. 2009 represents the first year that the scholarship will be offered. Up to 2 awards will be awarded. |

|
The scholarship shall be awarded under the following conditions: |

1. |
The name of the scholarship shall be the CSIRO ICT Centre IT Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship. |
||
|
2. |
The scholarship shall be open to all citizens or permanent residents of Australia who qualify in their final year of schooling to enrol in one of the degrees offered by the School of Information Technologies within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. |

|

a) |
Eligible programs include the Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology, Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology (Advanced), Bachelor of Information Technology. |
|
|
|
b) |
Students enrolling in the following combined degrees will also be eligible: BIT/BA, BIT/BCom, BIT/BSc, BIT/BMedSci and BIT/LLB. |
|
|
|
c) |
Awards will be made on the basis of academic merit, and full-time enrolment. No applications are required. The awards will only be available for students commencing in semester 1 of the academic year. |

|
Tenure |
|||
|
3. |
Each scholarship shall be tenable in the School of Information Technologies only. |
||
|
4. |
Each scholarship shall be tenable at the University of Sydney and shall not be transferable to another institution. |
||
|
5. |
Scholarships are tenable for one year (the first year) of study only. |
||
|
6. |
Scholars shall immediately notify the Engineering and IT Scholarships Office of any changes in personal circumstances, including changes of home and term addresses. |
||
|
7. |
Scholars shall maintain regular contact with the Engineering and IT Scholarships Office. If a scholar fails to reply to a request from the Engineering and IT Scholarships Office within a reasonable time, payment of the scholarship stipend may cease. |
||
|
Awarding of the Scholarships |

|
8. |
The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit as indicated by the applicantâs performance in the NSW HSC examination or equivalent. |
||
|
9. |
The scholarship shall be awarded by the Faculty of Engineering and IT on the recommendation of the selection panels consisting of at least one member from the School of Information Technologies. |
||
|
Value and payments |
|||
|
10. |
Value: $2,000 each, tenable for one year by each student. The student will also be given the opportunity to spend one week work experience at the ICT Centre under supervision of a staff member during the summer vacation. |
||
|
11. |
Scholarship payments will be made in April and August of the year. |
||
|
Additional Conditions |
|||
|
12. |
The Scholar will comply with all rules, regulations, by-laws, resolutions and other requirements made by the University with respect to both enrolment and attendance at the University and the taking up of the CSIRO ICT Centre IT Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship. |
||
|
13. |
The Scholar will inform the Engineering & IT Scholarships Office if their course or enrolment is varied in any way or their course is discontinued for any reason. In the event that the scholar discontinues or suspends their course any money paid to the student during that academic year must be paid back to the Faculty of Engineering and IT. |
||
|
14. |
The scholarship may be withdrawn in the event of unsatisfactory performance in their academic studies. |
||
|
15. |
If the scholarship is withdrawn or terminated for any reason, the Scholar will, without any demand by the University, repay that part of the scholarship stipend received after the date of withdrawal or termination of the scholarship. |
||
|
16. |
The Scholar will not pursue a course of studies at any institution other than the University of Sydney during the course of the scholarship. |
