SEARCC Conference is an annual ICT event organized by the South East
Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) and its component member
computer associations. The 2005 SEARCC Conference (SEARCC'05) is hosted
by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and will be held in Sydney,
Australia between 28-30 September, 2005. The conference theme is "ICT
Building Bridges" reflecting the ubiquity, connectivity and impact of
information communication technology applications on organizations,
government, nations and the community. The conference will comprise four
major streams:

Emerging Technologies
ICT in Management
ICT in Government
ICT in Education (Academic).

Program Chair:
Anthony Wong
Emerging Technologies - Professor Vijay Varadharajan

International Workshop on Grid and Peer-to-Peer based Workflows
http://www.ict.swin.edu.au/conferences/qsic2005/WorkflowWorkshop

One day workshop to be held in conjunction with the 5th International
Conference on Quality Software, September 19th-21st 2005, Melbourne,
Australia
http://www.ict.swin.edu.au/conferences/qsic2005/

Call for Papers
Workflow research has been conducted for many years, particularly in
the client-server based context. Recently, the research endeavour has
started to shift to the grid and peer-to-peer based paradigms. Many
e-science and complex e-business applications require the creation of
a collaborative and/or decentralised workflow management system as part
of their sophisticated problem solving processes.
The objective of the International Workshop on Grid and Peer-to-Peer
based Workflows is to bring together researchers and practitioners
from academia, industry and governments to report advances in grid and
peer-to-peer based workflow research, instead of the so called traditional
client-server based counterpart. The workshop welcomes the contribution
of all aspects of research relevant to grid and peer-to-peer based .....

Introduction

The computer game and interactive entertainment industry is now a
multi-billion industry driving new computer technologies and defining a
new set of cultural conventions. The lack of game-specific academic
conferences has prevented many academics from fully embracing game
development as a serious field of study. As a result, although current .....

First International Workshop on Services Engineering (SEIW 2005)
Melbourne, Australia, 19-21 September 2005

In association with
The FIFTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON QUALITY SOFTWARE (QSIC 2005)

With recent advances in network technologies and infrastructure, there
is increasing demand for ubiquitous access to networked services. New
challenges arise in the study of services engineering, an emerging
research area devoted to the software engineering of service-oriented
applications. Services Engineering is a very important area of the
Services Computing Discipline, as promoted by the IEEE Computer
Society. Its goal is to formulate effective solutions to the quality
development, deployment and management of these applications. The workshop
aims to provide a forum for software practitioners and researchers to
exchange the latest industrial experience and research ideas on services
engineering.

Topics of interest include, but not limited to, the following.

1st Computational Systemic Functional Grammar Conference

University of Sydney
Sydney, Australia
15-16th July, 2005

INTRODUCTION
Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) is now a well developed linguistic
theory that has been used in many domains as a powerful resource for
analysis of texts of a wide range of types, comprehensive descriptions of
English, Chinese, Japanese, and a significant number of other languages,
and theoretical modeling of language and other semiotic systems. One
key domain since the 1960s has been computational linguistics (CL). It
influenced Terry Winograd's work, contributed to the development of
Martin Kay's functional unification grammar, and played a major role in
the development of text generation, as this strand within CL expanded
in the 1980s. The seminal work in this area was the Penman project;
and this has led to the development of the current KPML system. However,
there are many areas of CL where SFL has not played a role but where it
could have made a significant contribution; and there are many lines of
research in NLP that are highly relevant to SFL. Developments within both .....
