Sensor nodes are tiny autonomous devices that combine sensing, computing

Research Assistant / Fellow in Computational Linguistics

The Key Centre of Design Computing and Cognition at the University of
Sydney is seeking to award a Post-Doctoral Fellowship to an excellent
candidate who has recently completed, or is about to complete, an earned
doctorate in computer science with a research emphasis in computational
linguistics, and now wishes to continue a career in research or higher
education. The Fellowship is funded by an ARC Discovery Project grant and
will provide support for up to 3 years. The Fellow will contribute to the
research on a language model of design with application to the analysis of
text relating to the design of civic works. Successful applicants will be
expected to commence in 2007. Further information can be obtained from Dr

PhD Scholarship at MQ in Trust and Security Closing date: 15 April 2007

Service-oriented computing is an emerging field involving a diversity
of e-services and complex technologies. Mechanisms for evaluating and
enhancing the quality and reputation of services are critical. This
project will investigate the reputation-based trust modeling and
evaluation approaches in service-oriented environments. Additionally
security mechanisms will be studied to enable a secure and reliable
trust management system.
A full-time Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships (MQRES)
is currently available to domestic and international students. Applicants
should have completed equivalent research qualifications to an Australian
undergraduate degree with first class honours in computer science, such
as a Masters degree with substantial thesis component. Candidates with
the experience on Web services are encouraged to apply. International
applicants may need the IELTS score of 7.0 for the scholarship.
The MQRES stipend is currently $19,616 p.a. tax exempt (2007). Tenure
is 3.5 years full-time, subject to satisfactory progress with tuition
fees funded for the scholarship tenure. Additional support for project
costs and conference travel will also be available from the Divisional
(approx $12,000) and University (approx $4,000) Postgraduate Research .....

Discovery Project "An Innovative Framework and Techniques for Trusted
Mobile Interaction".
This project will research new approaches to enabling trusted mobile
interaction, an issue of growing academic and industry importance.
The successful applicant will have a strong knowledge of XML as well as
a strong understanding of security techniques and concepts.
The project will be carried out at the Sydney CBD, UTS campus, and is
available to start immediately.
Salary range:
