Tourist Information

Sydney has a population of around 4 million. It is exceptionally cosmopolitan, with diverse migrant communities - so the overseas visitor could come here and spend all their time with their own national community :-). The actual conference venue is the University of Sydney, which is close to the central business district.

The conference will be held during the Australian winter. This is the perfect time to visit the wonderful Barrier Reef, one of the world's natural wonders, the outback with Uluru (aka Ayres Rock) and many wonderful and uniquely Australian scenery and the Northern Territory (of Crocodile Dundee fame). All of these have quite pleasant tourist weather at this time of year. There are also many tourist activities within Sydney and nearby. Some of these are listed below.

Sydney Tower

Sydneys tallest structure, spectacular 360 degree views of the Sydney. 2 restaurants, one a la carte and one buffet style. Located in the Centre of the City.

 

China Town

Around 80 or so restaurants bars and cafes. Not exclusively Chinese, there is a wonderful mixture of Vietnamese, Thai, Korean and Japanese. Many restaurants here are open until 3 or 4 am. Food Halls offer particularly good value. Near Central Station.

 

Woolloomooloo

The famous Harrys Café de Wheels at Cowper Wharf Road, Woolloomooloo has been operating since the 1950s. This street stall is the home of the Sydney version of a pie floater. Open till the wee hours. Alongside is the Finger Wharf development, with great outdoor and indoor restaurants overlooking the harbour.

 

Darling Harbour

Spend a day visting attractions to cater to all tastes and ages. Fabulous shopping, movies, food stalls, cafes and fine dining restaurants. All located on the Harbour foreshores.

 

Watsons Bay

The famous Doyles Seafood restaurant, is on the beach at Watsons Bay. Catch the ferry from Circular Quay and cruise the harbour to your restaurant. Sit alongside the beach and enjoy fresh catch seafood.

ROCK AND REEF DISCOVERY TOUR

Day 1.
