Our students enjoy a wide range of opportunities to interact with academic and industry staff and present their own research work at the highest level. The images below showcase some of these opportunities.

Our senior PhD student, Jan Chan, who received an honorable mention in the young investigator awards at SNM'06, presents the INVOLVE diagnostic workstation to high school students at the "Science in the City" museum exhibition.

Our junior international PhD student, Cherry Ballangan, supported by the highly competitive Indonesian government scholarship for talented young Indonesians, won the 2007 Research Conversazione's research excellence project prize three months after her PhD enrolment with us.

Our new PhD student, Ashnil Kumar (BE-Software, 1st Class Hons, BA-English), the winner of Microsoft Australia Prize for Final Year Achievement, presenting his work on biomedical image retrieval using clever image processing to derive meaningful features from the image content.

Our junior PhD student, Liviu Constantinescu, a former BIT degree student, demonstrates his research on complex and multi-dimensional image manipulation and communication with a Collaborative Mobile PET/CT Visualization System, to Dr. Michael Spence, the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney, during his recent visit to our Multimedia Lab.

Our Adjunct Professor, Michael Fulham, Director of the PET and Nuclear Medicine Department at the RPA Hospital, and Medical Imaging Clinical Director of the Sydney South West Area Health Service, teaches students in our MIT program - Information Technology in Biomedicine course.
