Course Description
Information Systems (IS) professionals in today's organisations are leaders in change and development. Your success in this field will be aided by your being able to apply formal methods of data collection and analysis to assist decision making. Statistics is one of the most important tools for analyzing business data.
This course will cover important concepts and skills in statistic data analysis and decision modelling. It will also provide hand-on experience of using Microsoft Excel to perform those analysis.
Learning Outcome
- Understand different types of data and be able to describe data using descriptive statistics
- Understand various probability distributions
- understand the difference between sample and population and be able to make inference from samples
- be able to carry out proper hypothesis testing given a data set.
- understand experiment design and various ways of analyzing experiment data
- be able to build relationships between variables and use them for forecasting
- Understand basic concepts in decision modelling
- be able to build and solve various decision models.
