This document details some local modification to our finger
program which we are running on some machines in our department.
Basically, finger has been changed to accept requests of
the form string%user@host.domain.name. When such a
request is made of finger, it runs the .finger
file in the user's home directory if present with
string as its argument. Normal finger requests are
handled as expected.
Here are some examples. You might also like to look at the Indiana Finger Gateway.
The following links are here for historical purposes and no longer function.
The finger distribution is available via ftp in ftp.cs.usyd.edu.au:/matty/finger/finger.tar.Z.
