Matty's research

My Ph.D as a research student in the The Basser Department of Computer Science was done as part of The Persistent Systems Research group. I worked on a persistent operating system called Grasshopper. I started postgraduate life in Computer Modelling. My honours project was an implementation of Bernard Zeigler's DEVS in CLOS.

My research involved evaluating the current use of namespaces in order to design a namespace for Grasshopper that is both convenient to use and exploits the paradigms of Grasshopper. On top of this infrastructure I have described some useful paradigms for a user environment. My thesis is entitled A Flexible and Extensible Data Storage and Naming System.

I am currently involved in a research project involving speech recognition based around the recognition of syllables rather than individual phonemes.
