Eudora comes with a junk mail filter which tries to classify incoming mail. Unfortunately it only comes with a very basic set of rules and is not too clever after being installed. The idea is that it can be trained to match your needs. To do that, select all mails it wrongly classified as junk and choose "Not Junk" from the "Message" menu.
Accordingly, if it does not recognise incoming junk as such, then select it and choose "Junk" from the "Message" menu.
This procedure may sound tedious at first but pays off very soon as the filter seems to learn quite quickly.
The downside is that you need to tell it for a while about the things it got wrong, the upside is that it gets better over time and an increasing percentage of spam will go straight to your "Junk" mailbox.
Further, mail from senders who are in your Eudora address book is not classified as junk and you can also tell Eudora (in the Settings) to add senders of mail you classified as "Not Junk" to your address book. In the same settings pane you can also adjust the threshold over which mails are considered junk.
