1. near the right end of the menu bar at the top of the screen, look for the the symbol for "Bluetooth"
   • if it exists, click onto it and choose "Turn Bluetooth Off" (even if it is being used it should be switched off when not in use)
2. to the right of the "Bluetooth" symbol you may find a symbol representing "AirPort"
   • if it exists, click onto it and choose "Turn AirPort Off" (unless we are looking at a laptop that is intended to use the wireless connection)
